Innovation Versus Invention

The difference between an INNOVATION versus INVENTION is: Invention is something brand new. INNOVATION is improving on what already exists. Example: A computer was an invention, while increasing the speed and memory of a computer would be an innovation. The innovation is finding new ways or ideas to apply similar concepts, therefore setting your company and brand apart. “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”  ~Steve Jobs, Apple co-founder

Innovate Forward

Think of how to take a negative situation, event, rejection, or economic adjustment and pivot into an innovative solution! What if your next scalable growth opportunity is a simple awareness of how to pivot, adjust and innovate a process, technology, system or business idea?

Ask, often how do we empower our team to innovate, create and collaborate through challenges? How can we mine for gold, flipping a negative to a positive opportunity? Encourage a mindset: “Feedback is the breakfast of champions!” Ask your team for feedback; many times, the solutions to great ideas are within your team!

Growth and comfort don’t coexist. That’s true for people, for companies, for nations.”  ~Ginni Rometty, President and CEO of IBM
