Making In Flight Adjustments

The Suddenly

I was flying over the Atlantic to Europe on business and out of nowhere our plane suddenly dropped over 500 feet! I witnessed people screaming, some even hitting their heads on the upper luggage compartment. My heart raced while simultaneously bursting out in prayer and giving thanks for my seatbelt! The captain quickly announced what took place with the jet stream and reassured us with their ability to make adjustments, all systems are well, and we are still going to be on time for landing. The flight attendants proactively checked in on everyone and other than the increased heart rate and sudden drop like a roller coaster, everyone was safe!

Preparations Before the Problem

The plane was designed for this moment and the pilots were proactively trained for this. We were all reassured by the calmness of the pilot's voice which set us all at ease. Talk about trust and surrender! As the pilot stood at the exit, it almost seemed like a wedding reception line from joy filled expression of gratitude from all of us!

One month is complete in 2024. Possibly you experienced some air turbulence, events, new growth, transitions in life.

Proactive Questions to Consider

1. What are you learning from navigating the air turbulence?
2. What new supporting habit can carry your goals to completion?
3. What are your instruments for navigation?

“Agility is the ability to adapt and respond to change… agile organizations, you change as an opportunity, not a threat.” ~ Jim Highsmith

Personal Note

My mom has been walking through her healing for several years and has been in the ICU over the past week. On Sunday, she said, Ed, I am ready to go to heaven! We have been preparing our hearts for this season and yet it is still difficult to walk through. My heart was filled with gratitude, witnessing her deep faith, and yet saddened by the fact she may soon no longer be with us here on earth. Thank you for your prayers!

Perspective Thought

Having a clear vision will help to transform your reaction and responses despite opportunities, obstacles, disappointments, economic changes and events. How could applied gratitude polish the perspective lens?

You got what it takes to make this your best year yet!

In Gratitude,

Ed Garner
