Pivoting and Reframing Your Business
Pivot and Reframe
You may be one pivot away from reframing your life, team, or company's next wave of growth! Do you feel the nudge to pivot or adjust? What ideas are you constantly hearing? What does your team say? What feedback are you getting from your clients?
To build hope, vision, and possibility thinking, let’s take a look at some companies for the purpose of inspiration! They all pivoted and reframed themselves into entire new markets. You may be thinking, it’s just me or a few people. Some of these companies, if not most of them, started with one or only a few individuals.
History Shaping Business Reframing
Youtube started as a dating site.
Shell Petroleum started with a London business, selling antiques and seashells and was in the interior design industry.
Samsung started as a grocery store.
Sight & Sound started with a 10-week multimedia show in a rented auditorium. Now they have two major locations with over 600 employees, and they also expanded into movie production.
Instagram started as a Bourbon whiskey app.
Amazon started by selling books. They are now one of the largest companies in the world.
Nokia started as a paper mill and went into cell phones.
Netflix started with DVDs. When you were done watching the movie, you sent the DVD back and waited for the next movie to arrive.
Shopify started as a snowboard company. They started in 2004 and grew to become one of the largest e-commerce ecosystems doing billions of dollars in business.
Your Possibilities
What’s possible with an infusion of fresh ideas and new perspectives? What new market shares, clients, growth ideas are possible? I heard it said, there are no traffic jams going the second mile.
What if, in the next 30 days, you began to write down new ideas without refining them? Write down those ideas you’ve been thinking about for years. Where many leaders and businesses can get stuck is on the mechanics. Think first inspiration, then information.
Exercise to Explore Possibilities
Take five minutes each and answer these two questions:
First: Take current inventory writing down where you are at in the key areas of your business. Simply write a five minute snapshot.
Second: Using your creative imagination - Write out, in five minutes, what you desire to create. Be specific. Dream and imagination BIG!
Consider Taking Action - How could you begin taking action steps on the future pivots or reframing?
Leadership Team
Another thing to consider whether it’s you, the entrepreneur, your team, dream team or leadership team, what is the vision and the why behind the vision? Is everyone aware of the actual vision? If you were to ask everyone on your team, do they know the vision? Do your clients know and understand the vision? Possibly, the vision was dehydrated. It’s a great time to reimagine, reinvent and reframe your vision!
Cultivate Ideas and Solutions
I want to encourage you to start now with the process of drilling down and exploring your vision and purpose. Your vision is what you are building. Your purpose is the why.
To encourage you, I was on the phone recently with a founder of a technology CEO and innovator hearing how he is pivoting, reframing and expanding into new global markets. I was referred to this pioneering leader from another business relationship. You may be one relationship away from your next level of growth!
Consider weekly idea exchanges with your team. Possibly look at getting an outside perspective to help you with the process of exploring, refining, reframing, reinventing and implementation.
Whether you're one individual considering business or in business or have a few employees or many - What’s possible over the next few months to begin to explore the possibilities and reframe your current vision, life, and business?
A few actions steps to consider:
Begin to list ideas for growth, reframing, refinement, new territories, or even new business models.
Begin getting clear on your personal and business vision.
Define your roles, then how can you delegate the rest?
What simple systems could be developed or updated?
Everyone goes through seasons of refining, feeling stuck, and hits growth walls. Adversity can be your launchpad of tremendous growth. The refinement may not always be pleasant. Even gold and silver go through the fire. Consider taking out a tablet and dream, create and inspire your thinking! Take action, you were born for the extraordinary!
In Gratitude,
